Cascarilla is rooted in Santerian, Hoodoo and Voodoo tradition. Ancient cascarillas were made using the outer husk of the cascarilla plant, as a tool to aid in protection. Modern day cascarilla is made using crushed egg shells– another “outer” layer of protection. Cascarilla aids in warding against negative energy, creating magical barriers, and purifying ones self, as well as assisting in removal of curses.
